IMPRESS debuts on Microsoft Mediaroom at the 2010 NAB Show
Las Vegas – Gravity Impress internationally debuts on Microsoft Mediaroom at the National Association of Broadcasters 2010 NAB Show. This unique media recommender system - already fully integrated for Mediaroom 2.0, Microsoft’s TV software and services platform - will be available for public demonstration at the Microsoft booth (booth #SL220) during the show.
Gravity R&D is the leader of “The Ensemble Team”, which achieved the highest overall score on Netflix Prize, the most important competition of data mining and recommendation engines of recent years. Gravity launches the new version of Impress, the media recommender system fully integrated for Microsoft Mediaroom 2.0. Impress offers high quality and personal recommendation for each and every user by instantly learning the users’ TV watching habits. Live shows, Video On Demand Content and soon-to-be aired content are included in recommendations. Impress can also automatically schedule recordings so you’ll never miss your soon-to-be favorite show.
“It is a pleasure for us that we can leverage the expertise gained at Netflix Prize to show Impress integrated with Mediaroom 2.0. In today’s world of digital television and IPTV, consumers faced with a dizzying array of programming choice are looking for user friendly, custom tailored solutions offering personalized and relevant content recommendation. We created Impress to comply with these end-user requirements and to help our customers – IPTV and cable TV service providers – to better monetize these requirements,” said Peter Csikos, CEO of Gravity R&D.
“Microsoft Mediaroom has become the world’s most deployed IPTV platform because we focus on responding to the needs of our customers to deliver more content and more differentiated experiences while still maintaining a focus on operational efficiency,” said Ted Malone, Sr. Director of Marketing for the Media Platforms Business at Microsoft. “We’re pleased to see developers like Gravity incorporating their recommendations engine into the Mediaroom platform. As the content choices for consumers expand, meaningful and relevant recommendations are important in delivering rich entertainment experiences that connect subscribers with the content they care about most.”
