ReignSoft and Gravity are developing IMPRESS, a platform independent digital media content recommendation framework. This technology helps users to choose the right TV program from all available channel offerings, provides better browsing experience with quick tips for instant channel change on the user interface; and includes high-quality recommendation services that leads to higher user satisfaction. The recommendation is based on TV watching habits mined from TV logs and explicit user ratings - if available - which in terms of recommendation problem, turns out to be very similar to the Netflix case.
IMPRESS is the winner of the first edition of the Strands $100K Call for Recommender Start-ups.

Our strategic business development partner is Valdeal Innovation Ltd. We participated at their Valdeal Project Competition 2008 (228 applicants), where our Gravity Recommendation Web Service project was selected into the top 28 that are most promising ones for international commercialization. In particular, in the IT category, our project was found to be the most promising one.
